… and arrived at Mary Gee's bach (country cottage) at 4:15 pm. Mary and a neighbour's cat greeted us. The New Zealand artist Don Binney used to own Mary's bach, which he recently – and accurately – described as "a sturdy, delicately proportioned cottage with a cabbage tree at its entrance porch" (see Don Binney, Drawing the Waitakere Coast, 2010, p. 48).
